First, a world premiere! Robert Parker's work Echo, a setting of the poetry of Christina Rosetti, was performed by vocal quartet Red Car Trolley on May 18, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Glendale. The quartet’s concert was the culmination of a two-day Festival of the Arts hosted by the St. Mark's parish. (Hear the performance!) And at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, the march Sicut Incipiat was performed as part of the processional for Yale's 312th commencement. (Hear a recording of the world-premiere performance! In concert at Woolsey Hall: the Yale Concert Band, conducted by Dr. Thomas C. Duffy.) Congratulations to Red Car Trolley for a wonderful performance (which is definitely a group worth following--Facebook users can find them here)! And congratulations to Yale's graduates, and to everyone who is graduating this year! |
